In this article, CIC will guide you to work with Sandwich to apply thick fake boxes in PYTHA software.

What is a thick fake box?

In the production of industrial wood furniture, thick imitation boxes are often commonly applied to designs that need to ensure aesthetics but still meet the requirements of saving materials. Instead of using plywood panels with large thickness (up to 50mm), thick fake boxes will be the preferred choice. This box is usually made up of 2 thin panels on the outside and a skeleton consisting of many spokes arranged evenly in the middle to increase the rigidity of the whole structure.

Understanding this production method, PYTHA software has integrated the Sandwich feature to design thick fake boxes available large-thickness panels. Users can find this feature in the Generator menu.

The Sandwich feature allows users to customize the thickness of the two skin panels, the width of the frame spokes, the direction of the spokes, the number of spokes and the connection type of the frame spokes. The above options have been pre-set in the parameters panel so that you can edit quickly and directly observe the changes made by the user before completion. In addition, details inside the structure will also be displayed in the Part List material table.
