Currently, the two most popular standards used to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions are the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064.
The GHG Protocol is a set of guidance tools developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) to help companies, organizations and governments calculate and manage manage their greenhouse gas emissions. The GHG Protocol also provides industry-specific guidance, calculation methods and reporting frameworks for different types of organizations and operations.
ISO 14064 is a series of international standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to help organizations quantify, monitor, report and verify greenhouse gas emissions and emissions. has been removed. ISO 14064 consists of three parts: part 1 (guidance at the organizational level), part 2 (guidance at the project level) and part 3 (guidance on requirements and validation and verification processes). The ISO 14064 family of standards is compatible with other ISO standards, such as ISO 14001 on environmental management systems, etc.
Both the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064 are leading standards in the field of greenhouse gas inventories. However, ISO 14064 is more general and concise, focusing on requirements and specifications for GHG quantification, monitoring, reporting and verification, and has more space for interpretation and regulation. correction. ISO 14064 is recognized and accepted by more organizations and state management agencies, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and the validated carbon standard (VCS).
