ROV (Remotely operated underwater vehicle) is a robot specially designed to work underwater. The ROV is connected with cables for control, power supply, and data transmission.

ROVs come in many sizes, as small as a basketball to as large as a car. Prices also vary greatly, ranging a few thousand dollars to millions of dollars. Underwater ROVs are used in various fields such as: search and rescue, military, recreational and exploration, aquaculture inspection, marine biology, oil and gas, offshore energy, underwater engineering water… They allow users to take photos and videos, help locate underwater targets and explore the depths of oceans, rivers, and lakes.

Based on depth and performance, ROV is currently classified into 4 main types

    1.ROV works at great depths

This ROV is used to probe and examine the ocean floor, at depths that are normally inaccessible to divers. They act as a safe alternative for divers and are commonly used in offshore energy projects and undersea surveys.

    2. ROV operates at medium depth

This type of ROV is suitable for medium depth work. ROVs are deployed ships instead of divers to explore. It can be used during inspection for repair. Besides, it is still possible to expand utilities such as laser scanners, sensors or specialized testing equipment.

    3. Observation ROV

This is a small, versatile ROV used for river, lake and coastal exploration. Can be equipped with Sonar and custom sensors. They are often used to check the safety of underwater before divers descend, inspect underwater structures, search and rescue work.

    4. Mini ROV

Mini ROV is the smallest type, often used to inspect hard-to-reach areas such as plumbing, underwater structures.
